As UDSF wraps up celebrating its 30th year anniversary, a heartfelt “thank you” for your years of support and loyalty to the UDSF is in order. Thanks to your participation, generosity, and caring, the UDSF has accomplished much, both in the chapters and on the state level. The local chapters and the state have provided parties, socials, parade floats, and outings, as well as fun educational activities. This year UDSF sponsored a free concert, free reading program workshops, three Family Links Conferences, and five Buddy Walks. Thanks to our wonderful community support, two golf tournaments were also profitable and fun!

One of UDSF’s most exciting accomplishments this year is the new and improved website, www.udsf.org, which offers so many resources and positive images of the beautiful children with Down syndrome throughout the state of Utah. In addition, there is a blog, a message board, and the “Low Down” e-mailer which are full of information. State-wide events are posted on the calendar, along with birthday listings. The goal is to have every child with Down syndrome on this birthday calendar.

During the past seven months, the UDSF website has had an average of 6,329 visits per month! That is so exciting! UDSF plans to continue maintaining this high quality website as it grows and expands. With this goal in mind, UDSF is now selling advertising space on its site. However, it will be special advertising limited to people or companies who have an interest in the Down syndrome community. For example, if you sell cars and know someone with Down syndrome that you want to feature in your ad, you will have space to advertise. Your spot could say something like, “Jonathan’s driving down the road in a (your dealership’s name) car!” There would be a picture of Jonathan in the car with you and/or your sales team and a link for people to click to go directly to your website. Or, if you were a financial advisor, you could say, “(Your financial company’s name) is helping to make Clarissa’s future secure.” If your business doesn’t have a website, UDSF can post a picture of a child with Down syndrome along with all your information. There will also be a directory available which will be categorized by chapters and descriptions, i.e., car dealerships in Utah County; realtors in Salt Lake, Cedar City, and St. George; hairdressers in Tabiona. The possibilities are endless!

The cost of the spots will vary. The home page will have a large spot that will run for $100 per month and three smaller spots that will run for $25 each per month. The directory page will have spots for $15 per month. You may design your own spot, or the UDSF webmaster can design it for an additional charge.

The UDSF website will continue reaching thousands of people each month. Make a smart business move by advertising with us! The new and expanded format is a refreshing and positive site for all of our families, especially the new ones. New baby contacts have almost doubled because these parents or their loved ones have visited the UDSF site. The UDSF desires to continue serving and supporting individuals with Down syndrome and their families and would appreciate your continued support.
