I’m swinging you back down to #11 because Bree’s picture was added. She’s been out of town, Disneyland to be exact!
I started to write earlier today but got sidetracked. I have had a sick child at home for the last two days. I have come across some amazing blogs, with heart warming, inspriational, uplifting, stories. With October being Down Syndrome Awareness month there have been some really eye-opening articles written. One that really stands out is from Opposite Kids.
The question that she posted came up earlier this month in a slightly different manner, but none the less it made an impact on me. What are your thoughts…
Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat…
With this ecomony the goose might not be getting fat. Here are some resourcs that might be of help.
The Community Food Co-op of Utah is a project of Crossroads Urban Center, a grassroots, non-profit organization that has been working to meet people’s basic survival needs and address the root causes of poverty since 1966. For over four decades, in addition to our direct service and advocacy efforts, Crossroads has played an important role in Utah’s non-profit community by identifying and responding to unmet community needs by spear-heading new initiatives and programs. Several of these efforts have evolved into independent organizations, such as Utahns Against Hunger and Wasatch Community Gardens. It is in this tradition that Crossroads is launching the Community Food Co-op of Utah.
Okay Lauriann has been researching the internet some more! Check out these links…
The UDSF would like to thank Marcum and Lorian Bouche’ for organizing the 1st Annual Fitness with a Cause 5K Race. It was a beautiful morning to race and there were over 40 runners! Part of the proceeds from the race will go to the Utah County Chapter of the Utah Down Syndrome Foundation.
Marcum is involved with Anytime Fitness in Lindon, UT
We will post pictures as soon as we get them!
The UDSF would like to thank the Diocesan Commission for People with Disabilities for the invitation to the special Mass that was held tonight ”to celebrate the many gifts and contributions made by people with disabilities in the Diocese of Salt Lake City.”
It was a wonderful service with the Most Reverend John C. Wester talking about focusing on the ability not the “dis”ability. He also gave thanks to those with disabilities that were visible to others because they were teaching acceptance.
Here is a link to information if you need help with your heat, telephone, or electric bill.
A new book arrived at my house today! Windows into Heaven – Stories Celebrating Down Syndrome by Stacy and Michelle Tetschner.
“Windows Into Heaven is a collection of stories
of inspiration, love, and acceptance
from those families and individuals
who have been positively touched
by Down Syndrome.”
There are three stories that are from Utah families!
